Annapolis Jaycees – Annual Holiday Hanging of the Greens Project (Annapolis)

Volunteers are needed for Hanging of the Greens in downtown Annapolis from 8 am-3 pm on Sat., Dec. 5 2009. Volunteers will work in teams of 5-10 on assigned sections of buildings to wrap Christmas lights around greenery and hang the greens/lights along with wreaths and ribbons. Volunteers are encouraged to bring wire cutters, ladders, and pickup trucks. Breakfast and a mid-day lunch will be provided. The Jaycees will also light the city of Annapolis Christmas Tree on Sun., Nov. 29th at 6 pm. Setup starts at 3pm Concession sales start around 5:30pm, program starts at 6pm with tree lighting sometime between 6:45pm-7:00pm. See Web site: www.annapolisjaycees.org.

Heave Ho! | Chesapeake Event Highlight

In an exciting display of brute strength, Tug of War XII, on November 7th, pits Annapolis teams against those from the Maritime Republic of Eastport on either ends of the 1,700′ tournament rope, stretched across the Spa Creek harbor (a.k.a. Superhero Celebration – Baltimore Comic-Con

Batman, Superman, Spider-Man, X-Men; yup, all the men will be there. For days leading up to and including the 4th of July and July 5th, Easton Main Street presents a Carnival – the major fund-raiser for the next year’s fireworks. Rides for all ages, games of chance, and special rates for tickets attract thousands to the evenings of excitement. On the 4th of July itself, the traditional Independence Day Celebration is a major community event. Local non-profit groups provide concession food booths, an annual fundraiser. Several musical acts are presented on stage, as well as a patriotic program to honor veterans. At dusk, the Mid-Shore’s finest Fireworks display lights up Easton.
